Q:What are Garra Rufa 'Fish Spas' and where does it originate?
A: It is an ancient natural pedicure and massage treatment with stimulating
results originating from Turkey. It is a widely used treatment all
over the Far East, becoming more popular in Europe. The fish are called
Garra Rufa but are often referred to as Dr Fish or nibble fish.
Q: Are there any health issues associated with the Garra
Rufa fish. i.e. passing bacteria/disease from one person to another?
A: No. The tanks are fitted with UV light filter. The fish
cannot transmit diseases. The water that the treatments are provided
in is constantly replaced, so there is no chance for diseases to be
transmitted through the water.
Q: Do the Garra Rufa fish bite?
A: No they don't have any teeth and therefore can't and won't bite
you. Despite the name nibble fish, they actually suck and scrape the
dry skin off your feet.
Q: How does it feel?
A: The sensation is similar to that of mini Jacuzzi jets that gently
massage and stimulate your skin. Some people find the experience ticklish
at first but the feeling passes quickly so that deep relaxation can
begin.
Q: What are the benefits of the Garra Rufa?
A: A completely natural and organic form of exfoliation,
combined with smoother skin. Relief from psoriasis and eczema. Micro-massage
to oxygenate and promote blood circulation and a lot of laughter and
tickly toes!!!
